Born in Bulgaria and migrated to Turkey in 1989. Graduated at Marmara University, Istanbul Department of Political Science and International Relations in 2003. Completed his MS degree in Sociology at Middle East Technical University, Ankara with thesis entitled “Linguistic Rights of the Turkish Minority in Bulgaria” in 2007. Since 2009, enrolled in PhD program in Cultural Anthropology at University of Pittsburgh. His area of focus is the Balkans and academic interests are borderland identities, ethnicity, and minority-majority relations. In his dissertation project he plans to work on identity construction among borderland communities in Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey.
